A trattoria of the Tuscan tradition

The restaurant offers a reserved and peaceful atmosphere where to enjoy meals and spend some time with the books about the local history and traditions which are at the customers' disposal or enjoy the small area dedicated to temporary exhibitons of contemporary art.

The soft background music may help appreciate the the special dishes and traditions of the Val d’Orcia.

The restaurant is situated in the historical centre of Castiglione d’Orcia a few steps from the main square: Piazza Il Vecchietta.

it is composed of two halls which host about 18 people each. The main hall has a fireplace and gives onto the piazza Il Vecchietta.

In the fine weather it is possible to eat in the open air.

The dishes proposed are typical of the Tuscan cooking tradition. They are made with fresh and selected seasonal products.

The restaurant has 38 seats inside and 25 outside; booking is welcome.

Among the first courses are: pici , tortelloni, fettuccine and gnocchi, handmade pasta with local flour.

Soups : ribollita and onion soup.

Main dishes: straccetti di vitellone (chopped tender beef) and chicken with grappa, tagliata (sliced steak) and bistecca alla fiorentina (grilled t-bone steak), trippa all’amiatina (tripe), scottiglia di cinghiale (wild boar), porchetta di maiale (sliced roasted pork), agnello sia in porchetta che allo scottadito (roasted lamb).

Fresh mushrooms (from Monte Amiata). A wide selection of cheeses from the Val d’Orcia and home made cakes. Extravergin olive oil produced exclusively in the territory of Castiglion d'Orcia.

Selection of tuscan and wines from oher regions with a special attention to the local production among them “Podere Forte”, “Podere Brizio” e Az. Agraria Bartolomei DOC Orcia.
